  1. Traditional Art of Cakalele (Kabasaran Dance)

This Cakalele dance is a traditional dance of the Minahasa community, a kind of war dance in which some men in costumes are dominated by the red color of Minahasa’s woven cloth. According to Minahasa custom, participants in the kabasaran dance must come from the descendants of the elders of the kabasaran dancer as well, so that not all Minahasan men have the opportunity to become kabasaran dancers.

The Paying Gratitude tradition in Manado, has the uniqueness of the Minahasa tribe, so there is the value of local wisdom that is closely related to the culture and customs of the Minahasan. The traditional art form of the orchestra, usually Kolintang, was learned as early as when Minahasan people were still in elementary school. The original Manado kolintang musical instrument is made of belar wood, which is also called wunut, but nowadays it is made of cempaka wood.

  1. Toki Pintu Ceremony (Wedding Traditions)

This ceremony is a traditional tradition that can be found at the wedding of the Minahasa tribe, most of whom embrace Protestant Christianity. The procession is carried out with dinner and worship services. This marriage custom means “Knocking on the Door” later the groom and bride will knock on each other’s door with a series of dialogues with thick philosophical meaning. The series of ceremonies will end with the bargaining of the dowry and the calculation of the number of offerings.

Mapalus is a unique tradition of traditional Minahasa of gotong royong ; a cooperation system carried out by society within the community who share common sense for the common good. Initially, this system was carried out specifically for activities related to agriculture. Until the development of the present era, mapalus was also used in various social activities.
