Muscle strains are common problems for athletes or those who do heavy workouts. This pain occurs when a particular muscle can’t handle the pressure, leading to acute muscle soreness. This is named Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) (กล้าม เนื้อ อักเสบ จาก การ ออก กํา ลังกา ย, which is the term in Thai) which is caused because of tearing of the muscle.
So, if you are a beginner or have completed a heavy workout, then after a day, you can feel the uneasiness in your muscles. It can get swollen, restricting you from moving your hands or legs smoothly. Sometimes, muscle strength loss occurs and causes stiffness in this area. It lasts for a day or a few hours, but if it continues for a week, it’s mandatory to consult an orthopaedic.
Most often, we see blue or red bruises on our legs or hands, but we can’t remember when we got hurt. Those marks are created due to the tearing of a few tissue muscles. You will not feel pain while pressing on it, but when we neglect these and keep doing that heavy work or lifting heavy weight, it causes a dent in the skin by tearing off the muscle. Stiffness of the muscle occurs, and sometimes the affected area gets swollen.
So when you are feeling like doing a few workouts, try to lift weight carefully; if it’s too heavy for you, then it’s better to drop it rather than challenge it. Muscle injury occurs if the exercises are done incorrectly or lifting anything heavy at a time. It’s up to you to take care of your body to avoid further issues.
