Mohit Kamboj said that his foundation named ‘Proud Bharatiya’ aims to encourage people to identify themselves by their Bharatiyata, or Indianness.

The “Proud Bharatiya” Foundation is also set up to create unity amongst citizens where they can go beyond the above name, surname, religion, region, caste, language, and other forms of discrimination.

The president of the youth wing of the BJP has said that he has changed his last name to “Bharatiya.” Mohit Kamboj, president of the BharatiyaJanataYuvaMorcha (BJYM), said Bharatiya will from now on be his “identity.”

The BJP youth wing leader said that his foundation ‘Proud Bharatiya’ aims to encourage people to identify themselves by their Bharatiyata, or Indianness.

The BJYM leader, who is also the national president of the Indian Bullion and Jewellery Association, said that his foundation’s objective is to unite people under a shared national identity of “Bharatiyata,” shedding all other identities of caste, culture, region, religion, and language.

Asking the people of India to put their country first, a BJP politician Mohit Kamboj has kickstarted a campaign for Indians to change their surnames to ‘Bharatiya.’ With an of combating “the ever-growing discrimination in the country,”

BharatiyaJanataYuvaMorcha (BJYM) Mumbai president Mohit Kamboj has also started the initiative by changing his own surname and launching a new website where people could do the same.

“It is a call to rise above religion, region, caste, and other factors that divide us,” says the text on the website Proud Bharatiya. Calling the movement “the need of the hour,” the website said that the politician “aims to bring a revolution in the hearts and minds of his fellow citizens.”

During a press conference in Mumbai, Kamboj, the wealthiest candidate in the 2014 Maharashtra elections with assets worth Rs 354 crore, said his “Proud Bharatiya” Foundation had been set up to create unity amongst people. He wants Indians to rise above name, surname, religion, region, caste, language, and other forms of discrimination.

Giant billboards and newspaper advertisements declaring his change of name have been seen across Mumbai.

Mohit Kamboj reminisces moments in life that define him as the man he is today. From a small-town boy in Varanasi, president of the Indian Bullion and Jewellery Association, Mohit Kamboj has come far in his rather eventful life to the business mastermind he is now.

A man of many talents, Mohit Kamboj’s story begins in Varanasi, India, where his father had a well-established Jewellery business and wholesale goods shop. Young Mohit Kamboj, aka Mohit Bharatiya, grew up under his father’s influence and gave full credit for his business acumen to his father. Mohit Kamboj shares his admiration for his father’s fantastic business sense and ascribes great importance to him for teaching him the ins and outs of the trade.

As he grew up, the resolve to start a business of his own overtook Mohit Kamboj, and he decided to move away from home to Mumbai to try his luck while leaving his mother and father was difficult for him, Mohit says, recalling the mix of excitement and fear when he stepped out of the house.
